For Relate
Since 2006 I have regularly run training courses in counselling skills for local public and
voluntary sector managers and workers to improve their
listening and communication skills. Council employees such as head teachers,
teaching assistants, Human Resource personnel and social workers have
attended my courses. Also staff from the NHS and the voluntary sector.
Courses have included the OCN accredited course ‘Counselling Skills for
Non-Counsellors'.
I
have run many relationship workshops in schools among troubled teenagers.
One project has lasted a year (2008-2009), involving 50 children from two
secondary schools in the most deprived areas of Brighton. |

"Maggie brings tremendous sensitivity, creativity, flexibility and empathy
to her group work with vulnerable and disadvantaged young people. As a
Relate life skills trainer, Maggie makes a significant difference to the
confidence and self-esteem of young people in very difficult circumstances.
It is a pleasure to work with Maggie and I have received glowing feedback
about her achievements from teachers, parents and young people."

‘" just wanted to
drop you a note to say ‘thank you’ for choosing our school as part of the
relate project. We have really appreciated Maggie’s expertise and have had
some really good positive feedback from parents/teachers. It has been good
to have Maggie, with all her skills, working with our students and we would
be very keen to have her back again in the future if you are considering
extending the project. It has been excellent for the students to be able to
discuss things with someone from ‘outside’ the school, they don’t see them
as any type of threat or authority figure and quite often this means you get
to the truth and problems a lot quicker.
Thank you, once
again."
